Job Overview

The Armed Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for personnel, visitors, and assets by employing visible deterrence, proactive patrolling, and rapid response capabilities. This role requires the authorized use of firearms, excellent judgment, and the ability to de‑escalate potentially dangerous situations while maintaining professionalism at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform regular foot and vehicle patrols of assigned facilities, checkpoints, and surrounding areas.
• Maintain a visible armed presence to deter criminal activity, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
• Monitor surveillance systems (CCTV, alarms, access control) and respond immediately to any alerts or incidents.
• Conduct thorough inspections of personnel, vehicles, and packages for prohibited items or weapons.
• Enforce company policies, local, state, and federal laws, and site‑specific security protocols.
• Provide rapid, decisive response to emergencies, including intrusions, disturbances, fires, medical incidents, or other threats.
• Prepare detailed incident reports, maintain accurate logs, and provide testimony in legal proceedings when required.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services as needed.
• Maintain and secure all firearms, ammunition, and related equipment in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Participate in ongoing training, drills, and certification renewals to keep skills current.

Essential Qualifications

• Valid state-issued Armed Security Guard license or equivalent certification.
• Completed required firearms training and certification (e.g., NRA, state police academy).
• Minimum high school diploma or GED; additional education in criminal justice or related fields is a plus.
• Ability to pass a thorough background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation.
• Excellent observational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical fitness to stand, walk, and respond quickly for prolonged periods.
• Proficiency with basic computer systems and security software.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Desired Experience

• 2+ years of experience in armed security, law enforcement, or military service.
• Experience operating and maintaining handguns, rifles, or other authorized firearms.
• Prior experience with access control systems, CCTV monitoring, and incident reporting.
• Knowledge of emergency response protocols and the ability to coordinate with first‑responder agencies.
• Training in conflict resolution, de‑escalation techniques, and first aid/CPR.
